Akasha Brewing started operations in Five Dock to much excitement and acclaim. The cellar door gives beer drinkers the chance to try their hoppy beers as fresh as possible.
Aside from the fresh beer, one of the best things about brewery cellar doors is getting up close and personal with the stainless steel. And nowhere is that more possible than Akasha Brewing in Five Dock.
You’re literally sat under the tanks and glycol pipes. It’s fantastic for the beer nerds and exciting for the uninitiated.
Hoppy Beers At Their Absolute Freshest
The beer is pouring fresh, which is how you want to drink Dave Padden’s hop-forward beers. So whether you’re going for a tasting paddle or a takeaway growler, you’re going to get those hops at their absolute best.
Their Tradewind Lager and Freshwater Pale Ale have definitely made an impact within the local community of beer drinkers. While the Fire Within amber (debuted at GABS 2015 but since changed in style) and Hopsmith IPA are also both excellent examples of their styles.
Keep and eye out for the sign telling you what’s brewing now. It’ll show which beers are in which tank alongside the date brewed which is a lovely bit of insight for the beer nerds.
A Friendly Community Focus
The cellar door is kitted out with makeshift wooden furniture and there’s even a pool table and dart board so, along with music pumping through the brewery and the sun glinting off the stainless, it provides a light and breezy environment to enjoy drinking fresh beer.
You might be served by Wes and you’ll probably catch a glimpse of Mr. Padden rushing around the brewery. Both are incredibly friendly to everyone who walks through the door.
Akasha does exactly what a local brewery should do, tie the community together. It’s become massively popular with the locals. Whether it’s people clocking off work on a Friday or stopping by on a Saturday arvo, you’ll get a good mix of people from young ones through to old hands.
Hours: Fri-Sat: 2pm-7pm
