BlackFont Brewhouse is a small operation based in Marrickville.
BlackFont Brewhouse brew and operate out of a small building not far from Sydenham station.
The name comes from the old printing press that used to sit on the site of the brewery.
As far as newly opened breweries in Sydney are concerned, they’re generating a lot of excitement among beer lovers and that excitement is sure to spread.
Small Batch Brews
The pair behind BlackFont are producing a range of beers, with plenty of one-off brews which come and go on the tap list at the tasting bar. The set up at time of launch features a 50L and 200L brewing kit which means, with thirsty locals, beers might not stay long on tap.
So far, some of their Berliner Weisses have proved extremely popular, while the copper ale and a couple of their lagers have also been big hits, particularly with locals.
Their beers are popping up around some pubs in Sydney and have even been seen at fellow Inner West brewers, Wayward.
Launched To Some Fanfare
BlackFont have launched to impressive acclaim in the brewing and beer geek sections of Sydney, with many early visitors to the brewery soon becoming evangelists for the duo.
Right now, they have a very small capacity and no real ability to distribute packaged beers but if the word continues to spread about their great beers, there’s no doubt we’ll see operations step up a notch.
BlackFont add variety and colour to the Sydney beer scene and seem to embody the passion, effort and love of great beer that drives people to create and brew the stuff. It’s certainly appreciated by those that drink their beer and demonstrates why we love craft beer. You can taste the passion.
