Unsurprisingly there’s a surfer vibe at Bondi Beach Cellars. A short walk from the beach up Hall Street will lead you to this bottle shop.
There’s a good selection of wines which might fit the Eastern Suburbs crowd but down the back of the shop is where things getting really interesting. Navigating around the cases of beer you’ll see a wall lined with fridges. It’s here that you’ll find a fantastic range of local and imported beer.
There’s everything from Aussie craft beer staples such as Stone & Wood and 4 Pines through to limited release stuff from the likes of Batch and plenty of other popular Australian representatives with names like Kaiju, Two Birds and Pirate Life.
There’s also a wide range of imported beer with some very famous Belgian names, as well as plenty from New Zealand and a heavy US influence.
Another exciting thing for Bondi’s beer lovers is something we’re seeing increasingly in specialist bottle shops; growler stations. They have them at Oak Barrel in the city and Beer Cartel north of the bridge.
And now Eastern Suburb locals have the option of fresh tap beer from a bottle shop. Bondi Beach Cellars has three taps and these change fairly regularly so it’s worth checking Now Tapped! to see what they have on.
Obviously prices vary for the draught beer so it’s worth checking that too. It might be something local that’s featured or it might be something a bit special that’s made it over from the US. You can see the details of the beers above the taps.
The range of beer, from stubbies, tinnies and bombers, through to the growler refills, provides enough to excite craft beer newbies and jaded beer geeks alike.
Bondi is arguable underserved in terms of craft beer, especially with bars and pubs. But if you’re looking for a few bottles to enjoy at home, or at the beach, then you shouldn’t need to go much further than Bondi Beach Cellars.
