SydneyBeer has a new look. Welcome!
It’s coming up to two years since this website first launched. It was about time it got a makeover to make things easier to find and easier to read.
Ruby understands good beer and she’s a gun graphic designer. Not only was she a pleasure to work with, she’s totally in tune with what SydneyBeer is trying to do.
The old logo was “designed” by yours truly (I have to justify that art degree somehow!) but it was looking tired. It was too literal and too “handcrafted”. This new logo reflects how the site has changed and how beer in Sydney has changed. Everything is just a bit slicker, a bit more modern, a bit better.
You’ll see variations of the logo across all the social media channels, so like the Facebook page, follow what’s happening on Twitter and Instagram and even get involved on Untappd if that’s your thing.
The intention of the site is still the same: to document and celebrate beer in Sydney, with a focus on the community that makes our beer scene so great.
We’ve seen a gradual move away from the term “craft” with good, local, independent beer becoming increasingly normalised. There are a few changes on the site to reflect that progression.
The aim remains to provide thoughtful beer writing on a range of subjects and to capture snapshots of how beer in Sydney develops and evolves over the coming years. I’m excited about the future for beer in this city. I hope you are too and that you’ll stick around for the ride.
There might be a few bugs in these first few days of the redesign. There might also be a few tweaks and refinements coming up. If you have feedback on the site, things you like or things you don’t, or things you want to see, I want to know. Please get in touch.
