Redoak opened in 2004 with a focus on well made craft ales. A number of international awards are proof that they’ve done that.

It’s not an unusual story, a beer loving home brewer travelled overseas and learned the art of brewing, experimenting with different styles before packing in the day job and kickstarting the dream of opening a brewery.
Of course, it’s not as easy as that and a lot of work has gone into it.
It’s lucky then that there’s a supportive family around his brewer and founder, David Hollyoak. And Redoak is proudly family owned and proudly Aussie.
They wear on their sleeve their commitment to good local produce, along with a large number of awards. They stake their claim as being the most awarded brewery in Australia.
Their beers have picked up badges of honour from around the world which fits the variety of brews they make.
There’s a strong European influence with traditional English bitters and pale ales, as well as Irish reds and porters.
Of course there’s room for Belgian and German influence as you’d expect, coming in the form of wits, Oktoberfest lagers and Kolschs. Among the staples there are also seasonal and special releases.
Their base is the Clarence Street brewpub where they proudly emphasise the value in beer and food matching. Redoak take a wholesome approach to beer which is reflected in their commitment to the environment and the fact that their go to beer is their Organic Pale Ale.
Redoak Brewery is also committed to the craft beer community, being a founding member of the Australian Real Craft Brewers Association.
They’re all about giving the little guy a go which fits in perfectly with the Sydney craft beer scene.
